P.O.W.E.R. Method #2

Last week we learned the most well used method and favorite of mine for Scripture journaling, the S.O.A.P. method, (If you missed that blog post make sure to go back and read it).  Hopefully  you were able to get some practice in using the method.  Our next method we are going to learn together is called the P.O.W.E.R. method.

Researching Journaling Methods

Once I knew I was going to put together a journaling series to go along with our monthly journal prompt themed calendar in You Ministries, I began my research.  I knew many methods I was going to be covering...but really had no idea the amount of different ways people journal Scripture to give meaning and purpose to them personally.  The P.O.W.E.R. method is one of those methods that a sweet sister in Christ, Jenny from The Littlest Way, came up with to help her in her own studies.

So this week we are going to journal using Jenny's P.O.W.E.R. method.

P.O.W.E.R Stands For Prayer, Observe, Write, Envision and Response

Power is mentioned in many Scriptures in the Bible.  Jenny quotes this one, "For the word of God is living and full of power, and is sharper than any two-edged sword, cutting through and making a division even of the soul and the spirit, the bones and the muscles, and quick to see the thoughts and purposes of the heart."  Hebrews 4:12 (BBE)  This is one of her mentioned ideas on her blog post.  I suggest heading over and give her post a read...it's not that long but will give you her insight to coming up with this method.  I am happy that I discovered this method and want to share her post with you all, link will be at the bottom...I don't want you to leave yet sister's!

You Journaling Journey is Personal

One of the biggest things I have noticed in many Bible Journaling groups is that fact that we compare ourselves to others.  Journaling is not about how creative we are or how awesome of an artist we are, it's about being creative in a space during our time with the Lord.  Let me tell you, I can't even draw a stick-man, let alone paint.  I sometimes just write out my method, other times I use stencils, stickers or cut outs, but this is all ok, because by doing my Scripture prompts this way it allows me more time in the Word and with the Lord.  Let me share some of my pictures...you will see I'm no Picasso that's for sure!

As you can see above...I simply used stencils and wrote out the Scripture, nothing fancy but still fun for me and my abilities.

This one I just wrote the Scripture and drew a funny weed looking flower, lol!

On the right side page, here I did a type of puzzle with arrows pointing to the next word to read...nothing fancy, but it was fun.  I then had my husband read it just to see if it made sense and fortunately for me it did make sense to him.  So you can see that we do not need to compare to one another.  This is a personal therapy session with our Lord.  God made us perfect and just the way He wanted, where one of us excels, another excels in some other gift given by the Lord.  Be thankful for your own gifts given by our Father.

In closing

I just want to tell you that you can do this...even if you just write the Scripture word for word, the Lord will be happy you spent that time with Him.
